Delta Arts Center was invited by The Black Collective—a student-led club at Atkins High School founded by Sophia Speaks—to join a powerful conversation around artistry, cultural expression, and community impact.
The event spotlighted visual artist Kenrick Jobe, who shared his journey as a working artist and the ways he uses his work to reflect and challenge the times we live in. Students were captivated by the pieces he brought in, which included a portrait of Kanye West, a vibrant landscape, and a commissioned work. His insight into navigating commissions and confronting current events through art sparked meaningful dialogue.
Delta Arts Center’s Program Director, Timothy, also spoke with students about the variety of career paths within the arts. He encouraged them to explore their passions, reminding them that there's always a place in the arts where they can belong and thrive.
It was an inspiring day filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection.
