Arts Smart is an interactive, integrated arts enrichment program for elementary schools provided by Delta Arts Center. Art Smarts uses art as a vehicle to enhance academic skills in literacy, math, and history for 4th and 5th graders. ArtistCorps AmeriCorps member artists serve in public schools and community-based institutions to work with high-needs students. Artists work directly with pre-kindergarten to high school seniors to strengthen community and learning through the use of music, movement, acting, and creating works of art. Delta Arts Center, a partner of ArtistCorps, facilitates a visual arts program based on the John Biggers and Elizabeth Catlett collection. Through DAC visual arts engagement program youth with high needs will receive instruction, exposure, and integration in areas of visual arts based on State Common Core Standards. Shakers Performing Arts at Delta Arts Center
Shakers Performing Arts Camp teaches Shakespeare and Classical Theater through music, dance, and textual interpretation to youth ages 9-17. The camp strives to groom young outstanding citizens through the arts by promoting teamwork, self-confidence, reading skills, creativity, and presentation skills so that they can find their voice. Shakers Performing Arts Camp provides students with a safe and fun-learning environment to express themselves and reaches the heart of all its participants on a personal level. The goal is to teach and encourage the youth to dream big, believe deep and strive hard at being their individual best. For students ages 9-17 years old.
